Angaston Uniting Church had an excellent Choir for many years, but due to lack of numbers, was forced to closed in 2000. Because of the musical interest in the town, Angaston Uniting and Zion Lutheran Churches continued with a combined Choir, and subsequently the Valley Voices Choir has become prominent in the town and district. Currently with approximately 40 members from the Barossa, the Choir sings at Christmas functions, as well as Seniors Homes, Concerts, Barossa Vintage Festival.
MEET AND EAT
Meet and Eat is a community event which brings three churches, Anglican, Lutheran and uniting together on the first Wednesday of every month to provide a delicious cooked meal at lunch time to anyone who wishes to come. The catering is shared between the three churches with food prepared at home. A gold coin donation is asked for in return for the meal which is generally donated except for when hot chicken or something special is provided. An annual donation of approximately $500 is made to either the Angaston Primary School Breakfast Club of Lutheran Community Care – all money staying in the Valley.
ANGASTON PRIMARY SCHOOL BREAKFAST PROGRAM
Once a month during school term on a Sunday non-perishable goods and fresh fruit are collected and taken to the School to help with the Breakfast Club. Children who do not eat before school enjoy a nutritious meal and any others who would like to, can share in some food. The School is very appreciative of our support.
MWANDI VILLAGE APPEAL
For quite a number of years the Church, through the Ladies Fellowship and Sunday School have sponsored two children in the Mwandi Village in Zambia. Each year in June we raise money for warm blankets for as many children as possible. Each one costs $30. We have a silver Elephant to place money in at Morning Tea following the service. On the last Sunday in June we have a shared lunch followed by fun and games and a big push for donations with enough money raised for 54 blankets in 2017. The money is sent directly to the village so what we raise is what they get.
